Is This Any Way To Spend A Vacation???

I had not taken a vacation in over 2 years.  About a month and a half ago, I was volunteered by my nephew, Nick, to work on an Extreme Makeover build not too far from my home in western Massachusetts.  I ended up feeling good about the project and then heard that the cast and crew were headed to Joplin, Missouri next.  They were going to build 7 houses in 7 days for some of the tornado victims from the May 22nd tornado that destroyed over 4000 houses and killed 162 people.  

I realized that I had to be part of the Joplin project.  And, having met and become friends with many of the project managers and designers that were on my first build, I had 1st hand info on what was going to happen.    So, with their help, off I went on my–vacation.

But I am so happy I made the trip.  The people of Joplin were wonderful to get to know.  The things that were accomplished in such a short time were amazing.  And, the stories I found every day brought me to a new place within my self and my life. 

Working side by side with people everyday that had lost everything, but were there to help their neighbors get back on their feet, put a much changed value system within my heart and soul.  Come on along with me as you read the entries and look inside the world of a city rebuilding.
