What Do You Want Me To Do

As I arrived on race day the sign for the finish line was being hoisted up and put into place. Many of the people, lead by Jim Wildman, had already been out on the course for hours setting up barriers and tables for the water stops. IMG_0050

This is actually one of my favorite photos from the entire weekend. On your right, Dave (Archie) Donoghue, the man in charge of the race committee. On the left, Brian Donoghue, Dave’s son and wing man. These two men, along with Jim Wildman, were the back bone of the re-organizing and re-creating of the Holyoke St. Patty’s Road Race.  What a great feeling it was to watch and listen to these people work together towards a common goal. And for them, as father and son, it must have been a proud beginning to a new journey togetherIMG_0051.

Here with Archie, just before the doors opened, he showed me one more example of his great people skills and his understanding of people and their talents. “Al”, he said, “since you talk so much, I’m recruiting you to be the greeter at the entrance to the tent”.  Amazing wisdom.
