Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day Race 2013–What A Difference A Year Can Make

by altardy on March 20, 2013

The day had arrived.  It was the 38th annual Holyoke St Patrick’s Day Road Race 2013. This would also be my 10th St. Patty’s Day Race here. I had arrived, as many of you know, looking for the stories of the day to show themselves.  But there was a big difference this year…..IMG_0011

The roads were quiet early that morning. But I always arrived early and the roads were always fairly quiet when I arrive on the previous 9 years……IMG_0010

Yep, there was the registration tent, just like last year……What was so different about this year???????IMG_0006

The difference was that I had joined onto the road race and parade committees 6 months prior and I was here to help put the race on.  What an honor and a privilege it is to work with such an amazing group of people.  I have about a dozen entries which will show you the stories I found that day with the runners (yes I also ran) and the people I spent time with from the committee. It has been an amazing, eye-opening experience.

If you re new to reading my blog entries let me help you navigate.  You can read the entries by clicking each individual “recent entry”, then, when you’ve gotten through them, click the “March Archives” to access more.  At the bottom of each of those pages you can click “previous entries” to continue to access more stories.  You can email me through the site or leave comments. I’d love to hear from you.   ENJOY
