Despite the warm temperatures, the Jim Kane Sugar Bowl 5k in Dorchester was the place to be. I had been here once before when it was a 5 miler and had a good time. But now I was back and it has been turned into a 5k and I had a great time.Â
It was on a Thursday night and I had to travel 100 miles to be there. I need to do a race—if you’re a runner you know what I’m talkin about. I definitely picked the right one and 1300 other people joined along with me to have some fun.  Â
How sweet a view was this as I arrived. It was 90 plus degrees a couple of hours before the race. HOWEVER, about an hour before the start a cloud cover came across the blue sky and a small wind kicked up off the water. It was still warm but these two items made it just a bit better.
Meet John “Mac”. He is the race director for the Jim Kane and, at 70 years very young, he is really helping make this race a great race and success.  As all of us race organizers know, when I needed to find Mac (having never met him before) I just looked for the person running around looking like a crazy person.
He became an instant friend. There are 4 entries after this one, all with pictures, smiles and short stories. So read about Mac and the tremendous day and race that he and all the other volunteers put on that day. And plan on being with us next year.
