Local Racing And Old Friends

by altardy on June 1, 2011

—One of the benefits of running a race close to home is the number of people that I know who have come to run. The May 28th race in Bernardston, Ma. was full of old friends.

—Perry and Judy own the gym that I have been a member of  for over 25 years. The Northampton Athletic Club(NAC) has been my 2nd home, for so long, because they are great friends, parents and role models in the city. I have turned to them many times for help and advise.  Pictured with their daughters, Jenna and Jamie, it was the first time I’ve run in a race that we were all a part of.

—Chris, Jen(215), Kosha(tunning her 1st 5k ever) and Matt are great people I see on a regular basis both in and out of the gym.  I consider it a blessing to call them “friends”.

—Patrick(with the basketball) is the only one among all these people that became a new friend that day.  He won the 17 and under age catagory and is pictured with me and another great friend, Justin.

— The 1st annual race was a great success and a great day to spend with new and old friends.  You’ll see more of the new friends in the 3 entries following this one.  So keep reading and plan on attending this great new race next year.
