The big guns came out to start the race. The 1st annual Memorial Day Race was put into motion with the flying over head of jets and the firing of muskets.
Florence was the perfect setting for this race. The course went through town and up into the local Veteran’s Hospital. Flags were given out and the runners got to see, and be cheered on by, some of the people being helped by their efforts.
Taking care of those that have helped us to have and keep our free way of life is what we should all be willing to do.
Come and be part of this race next year. You’ll enjoy the day’s festivities and knowing you are helping make a difference. There is one more entry to read after this one with some of the runners highlighted, so read on.
