The 2nd Annual Toasted Owl Gives A Hoot Run/Walk For The Cutchins Progam

The 2nd Annual Toasted Owl Gives A Hoot race in Northampton, Ma. was supposed to take place on October 30th this year.  Myself, Dawn Faucette(fund-raiser for the Cutchins Program), and Fred Gore(owner of The Toasted Owl Tavern) had been planning this  race for a year.  But Mother Nature had a different plan for what was going to happen on that date.

A northeaster clobbered the northeast taking down trees and power lines everywhere.  So a week late(Nov 6th)  the race was back on.

The Cutchins Program helps kids and families in crisis in Northampton and Springfield.  They help over 400 people in the area. The race was the product of a conversation Fred and I were having one  evening.  It was Fred, however, that researched and picked the Cutchins Program as the recipient of the funds that would be raised from the run.

So a week late, the people came and the run/walk was a successful happening event.  I have 6 entries after this one just to show you what a great time we had. And, with somewhere around $20,000 raised for a great charity we are all feeling pretty darn good.

The sun rise was a mystical, eerie start to the day.  But, as you will see in the entries, the day was clear, warm and exciting.

If you didn’t make it to the race, you missed a great time.  Read about it and put it on your calendar for next year as a “MUST” do.
