Heroes Amongst Us

I want you to google Tommy Leonard.  This person, that I feel privileged to be pictured with, is a humble giant  and  legend in the running world.

Tommy was the originator of this Talking Turkey Race in Holyoke, Ma. 33 years ago.  He also started the Holyoke, Ma., Saint Patty’s Day 10k, which draws thousands of runners each year.  He was the founder of the Falmouth, Ma. races that people flock to, has many marathons in his history, has written a very special book, “If This Is Heaven I’m Going To Be A Good Boy”,  and is loved by all who know him.

This years race was the 4th time I have run this race and one of very few that just seems to get better every time.   Over a thousand runners attend the race no matter what the weather, cause it’s the atmosphere and the comradely that are always special.

I said long ago in one of the entries in my blog section, if you have a flag at your race I will sing your praises.  This race has always flown our flag and that alone makes me feel proud to be there.

There are 2 more entries after this so you can see some of the great people who were at this special race on November 26th.  Read them and then put this race on your calendar for next year so you, too, can say “hi” and “thanks” to Tommy.
