I totally look forward to the coming of the Canal Diggers 5k in Worcester, Ma.. And September 7th was that special race this year.  I have many, many great memories from this race.Â
This was one of the first races I did as I was stepping out into the “race world”. Also it is such a great time that, when my daughter decided she wanted to join her dad somewhere for her first race ever, I knew this was the race for her.  I have a photo on my wall of the two of us crossing the finish line with hands clenched and arms held high in triumph.     Â
The man on the left is Paul. He has been the main organizer for this race for many years and has led his group to creating a fantastic racewith a special atmosphere and a meeting place for people to get together and find their story for the day. We’re pictured with his daughter Siobhan, son Paul jr. and Paul sr’s wife, whose name escapes me. Please, if someone reading this and can help me here I would appreciate it. My personal email is tardy4@comcast.net.Â
The Fiddlers’ Green Pub is the place it all starts.
And with Harpoon beer sponsoring the race and a huge Irish BBQ after the run the people do come. There was well over a thousand of us crazy running people this year. And I have some pictures and short stories in 5 more blog entries to prove it. Read them, email me (best way is tardy4@comcast.net ), then put this race on your calendar for next year and experience it for yourself.  “THANKS TO PAUL AND ALL THOSE THAT MAKE THIS A GREAT DAY FOR ALL” Â
